Dr. Veerasathpurish (Sath) Allareddy will become head of the University of Illinois at Chicago College of Dentistry’s Department of Orthodontics on July 1.
Allareddy was chosen following a national search by a committee led by Dr. Lyndon Cooper, associate dean for research and head of the Department of Oral Biology.
The American Association of Orthodontics Foundation has provided a Research Aid Award of $5,000 for a project at the College, “Characterization of a Biomimetically Enhanced Bio-OSS for Bone Regeneration Applications.”
Dr. Michael G. Durbin, DDS, MS, an orthodontist with offices in Des Plaines and Long Grove, Illinois, has been elected by the Midwestern Society of Orthodontists (MSO) as its representative on the Board of Trustees of the American Association of Orthodontists (AAO). The announcement was made during the AAO’s recent 117th Annual Session in San Diego.
Dr. Lawrence Voss, Clinical Assistant Professor of Orthodontics, will retire from the University of Illinois at Chicago College of Dentistry at the end of December 2016.
Dr. Voss taught at the College from 2005 through 2016, “long after my dental student days,” he said. Dr. Voss earned his DDS from the College in 1978, and his Certificate in Orthodontics
Dr. Christina Nicholas has joined the University of Illinois at Chicago College of Dentistry as a Visiting Research Assistant Professor in the Department of Orthodontics.
“I’m a biological anthropologist by training,” she explained.
“My primary responsibility is research, though I also am involved in teaching,” Dr. Nicholas added. “I started as a facilitator for Small Group Learning in October.”
Dr. Samuel Berkowitz, an Adjunct Faculty in the Department of Orthodontics at the University of Illinois at Chicago College of Dentistry, earned the American Cleft Palate-Craniofacial Association Honors of the Association Award at the ACPA and Cleft Palate Foundation 73rd annual meeting and pre-conference symposium.
