First Year Postgraduate Students

Dr. Ali Alsuhail

Dr. Ali Alsuhail graduated from the University of Baghdad, College of Dentistry in 2009, before moving to Chicago in 2011.

He earned his DMD after finishing a two-year advanced standing dental program at UIC, during which he was awarded the Dr. Harry Saxon Scholarship/Award for academic achievements.

After graduation, he pursued further training in Advanced Education in General Dentistry at South Texas Veterans Health Care System (STVHCS) in San Antonio for one year serving the veterans of the United States. Then he joined a private practice in the Chicagoland area for two years.

Dr Alsuhail is currently training in the UIC endodontics residency program, after which he plans on becoming a Board-Certified Endodontist and enter private practice.

Dr. Alsuhail enjoys spending time with his family, exploring the city and traveling around the world.


Dr. Nabeel Atassi 

Dr. Nabeel Atassi was born and raised in the Western Suburbs of Chicago. Following graduation from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, Dr. Atassi lived in Chicago for a few years before moving to Indianapolis to attend the Indiana University School of Dentistry, graduating in 2018. During dental school, Dr. Atassi was involved in endodontics research, ASDA, and helped bring the Give Kids a Smile program to the school. Following dental school, Dr. Atassi completed a General Practice Residency at the Richard L. Roudebush VA Medical Center in Indianapolis Indiana.

In his free time, Dr. Atassi enjoys spending time with his friends and family, golfing, and cheering on his favorite Chicago sports teams.

Upon graduation, Dr. Atassi plans to enter private practice, be involved in academics, and become board-certified by the American Board of Endodontics


Dr. Mina Golubovich

Dr. Mina Golubovich grew up in the Chicagoland area. She earned her Bachelor of Science from the University of Notre Dame in 2015 and her Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) degree from the University of Illinois at Chicago in 2019. During dental school, Dr. Golubovich was very involved in the American Student Dental Association (ASDA) where she served as President during her third year, helped establish a student Eco-Educator group to promote environmental awareness and sustainability on campus, and regularly volunteered in the community. Dr. Golubovich was inducted into the Omicron Kappa Upsilon (OKU) National Dental Honors Society in 2019 and was awarded several scholarships for leadership, scholastic performance, clinical work and character during her dental school years. Dr. Golubovich entered the Clinical Specialty Program in Endodontics immediately following graduation.

Dr. Golubovich loves yoga, drawing, painting, spending time with loved ones and traveling in her free time. She especially loves returning to Serbia to visit family and friends. 

Upon graduation, Dr. Golubovich plans to enter private practice and teach part-time.


Dr. Harley Grandin 

Harley Grandin grew up in San Francisco, California. He majored in Exercise Biology at The University of California Davis prior to earning his DDS degree at The University of the Pacific Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry. Dr. Grandin was awarded the Helix Curriculum Award at Pacific for developing an interactive case-based online learning course for the oral pathology program. After dental school, he attended an AEGD at UCLA Venice followed by a year in private practice.

Outside of dentistry, Dr. Grandin enjoys training for triathlons and taking care of his two huskies. Upon graduation he plans to become board certified and enter private practice.


Dr. Manliu Yang 

Dr. Yang received her dental degree at the University of California, San Francisco, after completing her undergraduate studies in Classics at the University of California, San Diego. She completed her general practice residency at New-York Presbyterian Hospital in Brooklyn. She practiced in a pediatric dental office prior to coming to University of Illinois - Chicago.

Dr. Yang enjoys traveling in her free time.

Upon graduation, Dr. Yang plans to return to private practice.

Second Year Postgraduate Students

Dr. Nisreen Jaweesh


Dr. Nisreen Jaweesh comes from Syria , Aleppo and earned her DMD from the University of Aleepo 2001. Then she was in general dental practice for over 5 years in Syria  before moving to Chicago over a decade ago, then Dr. Jaweesh graduated from the UIC  College of Dentistry in 2017.  She practiced general dentistry again for one year in Chicago prior to beginning the program. 

Dr. Jaweesh is married with 2 children and in her spare time she enjoys spending time with her family, traveling, drawing and jogging. 

Upon graduation, Dr. Jaweesh plans to enter private practice and also wants to be involved in university teaching field.


Dr. Daniel Oh

Dr. Daniel Oh grew up in California and studied Electrical Engineering for his undergraduate degree at University of California, Irvine. He worked as a semiconductor circuit designer for five years and concurrently received his Master of Science in Electrical Engineering at University of Southern California. While he enjoyed his work as an engineer, Dr. Oh decided to follow his passion to become a health professional. Dr. Oh received Doctor of Dental Surgery at University of California, Los Angeles in 2014. He is a recipient of U.S. Army Health Professional Scholarship which allowed him to serve as a captain and a general dentist at Fort Polk, LA.

In his free time, Dr. Oh enjoys playing racquetball, biking, and exploring Chicagoland with his wife and son.

Upon graduation, Dr. Oh plans to enter private practice and teach endodontics to dental community.


Dr. Ashley Orth


Dr. Ashley Orth has resided in Chicago since 2006. Ashley spent two years as a dental assistant then received her D.D.S. Degree from the University of Illinois at Chicago in 2012. In addition, Dr. Orth completed a post-graduate general practice residency at the Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center for advanced training in general dentistry including endodontics, operating room dentistry, oral surgery, periodontics, pediatrics, emergency care, and patients with special needs. She has practiced general dentistry for the last 5 years prior to beginning her endodontic residency. Dr. Orth is a native of Fort Walton Beach, Florida.  She completed her undergraduate studies at Tulane University in New Orleans, Louisiana where she received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Neuroscience.

Ashley likes to be outside enjoying the weather whenever possible with her husband and two daughters.

She hopes to stay in the Chicago area and enter private practice upon graduation.


Dr. Yagnik Patel


Dr. Yagnik Patel grew up in West Bengal, India. He received his BDS degree from Bapuji Dental College and Hospital, Davangere in 2010. He moved to the United States in 2011. In 2014, he earned his Master of Public Health (Epidemiology and Biostatistics) from Temple University, Philadelphia. Dr. Patel later moved to Los Angeles, California and earned his DDS degree from the University of Southern California in 2016. During dental school, he was very actively involved in organized dentistry and student advocacy, serving as CDA (California Dental Association) Class Representative 2016. He was also awarded the “THE THOR AWARD” for showing outstanding dedication and service in providing dental care to underserved and/or disadvantaged children during dental school.

He practiced as an Associate in a small town in West Texas, Sweetwater for 2 years after before joining the program. During his spare time, he enjoys sports and loves to cook for his lovely wife.

Upon graduation, Dr. Patel wishes to become board-certified by the American Board of Endodontics and enter private practice. After few years of practice, he wants join academia full-time and be actively involved in organized Dentistry.


Dr. Sebastian Przybylo


Dr. Sebastian Przybylo earned a Bachelor’s of Science in Biology from the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) followed by a Doctor of Dental Medicine Degree at the UIC College of Dentistry in 2018. Sebastian was inducted into the Omicron Kappa Upsilon Sigma Chapter National Dental Honors Society his fourth year of dental school. In addition, during dental school he was awarded the American Association of Endodontists Student Achievement Award, the Dr. William J. Starek Endodontics Award, the ISDS Best Translational and Clinical Science Research Award and the Dr. Richard J. Schnell Memorial Scholarship. After graduation, Dr. Przybylo began the Endodontics Residency Program at UIC.

Sebastian lives in Chicago with his fiancé and their dog Bijou. He enjoys spending time with his family and exploring the local food scene.

Upon completion of residency, Sebastian plans on becoming a Board Certified Endodontist and entering private practice in the Chicago-land area.

The UIC College of Dentistry Endodontics clinic in Chicago provides world-class root canal therapy from a team of expert faculty and post graduate dentists who are completing specialty training. Patients may be referred to the Postgraduate Endodontics clinic after initial screening, as part of their treatment in the College, or on recommendation of a private dentist. Patients without a private dentist referral must undergo screening in the admitting clinic before assignment to the endodontic clinic.
